So what is the PTA and what do we do?
The PTA is a legally registered charity. We organise fundraising and social events to raise money to help Carlton Hill Primary School provide a better education for our children. Events include: Winter and Summer Fairs, the School Disco, a Curry & Bingo evening for adults, November's FireFest and many more.
The money we raise pays for vital items and equipment around the school and more. In the last couple of years, we have provided:
• Helping to fund after school clubs – keeping the costs down with the aim that every child gets the opportunity to participate should they wish
• Money to help fund the Numicon Maths Initiative
• Refurbishment of the IT suite
• A £1000 yearly contribution towards the Year 6 residential trip
• Equipment for Reception
• A 50" HD television for the school hall
• Subsidies (£8 per head) for school trips, to ensure that they are affordable for all children in the school
• Visits to the school by artists/theatre groups
We know that not everyone has time to come along to meetings, but helping out is one of the more enjoyable ways of being involved with your children’s education and it helps to make Carlton Hill a truly caring community. Whatever your skills – crafts, baking, catering, book-keeping, fundraising, letterwriting, computing, talking, having ideas – we will welcome your involvement.
Even more important than skills, though, is enthusiasm!
Please don't be shy about coming along to a meeting or talking to us if you have questions. Your interest will be very welcome. New parents and carers always bring fresh, new ideas, and the more people who get involved, the easier it becomes to put on events and raise funds for the school
Calling all Mums, Dads & Carers... your PTA needs you!
We all love our kids and want them to do well, so why not help us to help the school and become a part of our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) today!
When your child joins Carlton Hill, you automatically become a member, so you don’t need to do anything else if you don’t want to. However the more we all join in, the better we can make the school for our children, plus getting involved is a great way to meet new people and make friends.
Being an active member of the PTA can be whatever you want it to be. If you have the time (and the inclination) we are looking for people to take charge of events and organise volunteers. If you have less time or just want to test the waters, then there are loads of smaller ways to contribute. You could help out at one event a year or bake a cake for the cake stall - whatever your involvement, you will be making a difference!
We also want to know what talents you have. Are you super-organised, a project manager, face painter or a musician? Do you know someone with a bouncy castle business, or maybe you work for a big supermarket / local business that would be keen to support us? Some companies even have money set aside to help registered charities like ours and will match the funds we raise at an event. Anything you think might help, we would love to know.
Don’t forget... we're only as good as the people who are involved. We're looking for new ideas, lots of energy, and suggestions for better ways of doing things... if you think this could this be you, get in touch!
