What do we learn about?

Every day we learn reading, writing and mathematics skills, but we also learn about lots of other things! Here is a very light overview, and you will also receive more detailed half-termly overviews (CLICK HERE to view them online)..

Moving from Year 2 to Year 3? Check out this transition information.

Learning bags and library

Don't forget to bring your learning bag every day!

Children can borrow books from our class library to share at home.  They can change these books once per week, and this will be recorded in our class reading record.

We also visit the school library on a Thursday and children can change library books to take home.

Please read with your child as often as you can.

Class assemblies

Each term, parents and carers are welcome to come to the hall and see a class assembly. We call these assemblies '10 minutes of fame!' They are not intended to be polished performances, just a little window into what children have been learning about.

If you would like to know when your child's class assembly is, please look at the school newsletter which goes out every fortnight.

In Year 3, children receive at least one certificate per term for their achievements.

From Year 1 upwards, children receive a home-school learning grid every two weeks. There is more information about this here. From Year 2 upwards, there is also online SumDog homework. If your child has difficulty accessing this, there is a drop in every Wednesday before school. You can find an appliction form at the very bottom of this page.

Reading with your child is the most valuable way that you can support their learning - we cannot overemphasise this!
