School Meals and School Milk
School Meals
School meals at Carlton Hill Primary are provided through a contract with Brighton & Hove City Council and a company called Caterlink.
A school lunch costs £2.20 and needs to be paid for through our online Parentpay system. Parents / carers of all pupils on roll will be given a log-in to Parentpay which they can use for online payments for school meals, school trips, Breakfast Club and Clubs after school. Any parents not able to access this online can ask the School Office for a barcoded letter and can make payments at any local shop displaying the Paypoint logo.
There is no need to book a school meal in advance. Children can decide on the day if they want a school dinner or bring a packed lunch. You can download below a copy of our current school menu.
If a child has any dietary requirements for allergy or cultural / religious reasons, parents / carers need to complete a form which can be obtained at the school office. The school is able to offer a Halal menu option, if required.
Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) and Daily Fruit / Vegetables in school
For children in Reception and Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), the government currently offer a free school meal daily to all children. As above, children will still need to book their school meal every day, as needed but no payment is required.
The government also currently provide a free of charge portion of fruit or vegetable daily to all pupils in Reception and Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2).
Free School Meals (FSM)
Pupils whose parents are entitled to some key benefits may be eligible to receive Free School Meals at any age. The criteria for this entitlement is changing with the introduction of Universal Credit. If you think you might be entitled to this, please check with the School Office who can do a very quick online check for you, with your name, National Insurance no. and date of birth. Even if your child does not want to have school meals, please do check this with us as, registering your FSM eligibility will help the school with additional funding.
School Milk
Children under 5 years of age are automatically, unless parents request us to cancel this, registered to receive a small carton of milk every day, free of charge. Once children are 5, if parents would like this to continue they need to register on the www.coolmilk.com website, where they can order this and pay for it online. Alternatively, you can ask for a paper form at the school office, which will then need to be posted off.
Children who are eligible for Pupil Premium can request school milk free of charge, to be paid for by the School. If your child would like this, please ask at the school office.
