Home-learning tasks for children who are self-isolating

At the moment, the vast majority of pupils are able to attend school. However, there may be times when school is open but a pupil cannot attend. For example, pupils will be unable to attend (in line with public health advice) if they are self-isolating and have had symptoms or a positive test result themselves, or if they are a close contact of someone who has coronavirus (COVID-19).

Year 1 home learning

Everyday we do some reading, phonics, writing and maths.

The children also have topic work, fine and gross motor skills and art or DT.

IF YOU ARE SELF-ISOLATING I WILL PUT ON THE BLOG EACH DAY WHAT LEARNING WE HAVE COVERED. IF YOU NEED TO BE AT HOME FOR 7-14 DAYS WITHOUT SYMPTOMS HERE ARE THE ACTIVITIES TO PRACTISE.

Phonics

At Carlton Hill we follow Letters and Sounds. This website has teaching videos which you can use with your child daily. Click here for the link to their website and use lessons 52-60 to recap important phonemes.

Science

We are learning about plants and seasons. Click here for Oak Academy lessons on Seasons.

Maths

If you are at home, please focus on counting forwards and backwards in ones from any number up to 100. Also practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.  Practise writing numerals the correct way round and number words to twenty.

English

Keep a diary of your time at home to practise your writing. Remember it should be in the past tense.

Practise writing your name (lower case after the first capital letter) and address.

Ask your child to retell any familiar stories they know. I have read lots of stories on the blog that you can listen to again.

Reading

Please read every day and talk about what happens in the books.

PE

Joe Wicks 5 minute workouts for the classroom are great for a small space. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3LPrhI0v-w

Art

Keep practising your drawing with Rob - click here.
